There are approximately 11,000 child care centers in the state of Georgia. Surveys have shown that ongoing teacher training was critical to ensure the provision of quality care to our children. As turnover remains high in this industry, centers continually need to train new staff. However, there are barriers that prevent the centers from sending their staff for training. The first is financial assistance for the cost of training and second is financial assistance to cover the costs of substitutes for employees absent for training.

Easter Seals Solutions®, a teacher training and placement program, was developed to address the need for on-going training and to remove barriers to gain such training. Easter Seals has trained more than 375 child care givers throughout Georgia since the inception of this program in 1996.

This program offers DHR-approved instruction, which includes a hands-on practicum. The training emphasizes appropriate practices of several developmental curricula and includes training in child development, developmentally appropriate practices, and adult-child interactions, creating an inclusive learning environment and working with children with special needs.
